Pre 1859 Passenger Lists to Moreton Bay

Pre 1859 Passenger Lists to Moreton Bay
Queensland only became a state in 1859 so for immigration records pre 1859 it is better to look at the New South Wales passenger lists as more information is available on them compared to the Moreton Bay passenger lists.
The New South Wales ship index refers you to two AO microfilm reel numbers. AO means Archives Office of New South Wales, now known as SR, State Records of New South Wales.
The higher number of the two microfilm reel numbers gives you the extra information of - "Parents Names and, if alive, their Residence" and "Relations in the Colony".
See the attached two images showing the "Ascendant" ship arriving in Moreton Bay in 1858. It is on microfilm reel AO 2138 and AO 2477. Microfilm reel AO 2477 gives extra information about the passengers.
The passenger list on microfilm reel AO 2477 also lists separately married couples and single males and single females. If you look at the last person on this page of the passenger list, Michael Hanrahan, it says his parents are "Michael and Johanna, on Board", ie they are also travelling on board the ship.
The second image from microfilm reel AO 2138 shows the last page of the passenger list which gives a summary of information about the ship and its voyage.
Don't forget to check the newspapers for any articles about the voyage of the ship.
