To Australia with love - Russian Migration

The National Archives of Australia at Cannon Hill is holding a free seminar on the history of Russian migration to Australia from the end of the 19th Century through to the 20th Century.

At the end of the 19th Century many Jews and Russian intelligentsia fled the riots, violence of the anti-Jewish progroms sweeping Russia and some came to Australia.

In the 20th Century Russian immigration to Australia increased significantly, after the first Russian revolution of 1905 and then the 1917 revolution.  After WWII many Russians arrived on assisted passages from Displaced persons camps in Europe.

The National Archives of Australia hold records relating to Russian migrants.

To be held on Saturday 15th January and again on Wednesday 19th January, starting at 10am and running for about an hour.  A compilmentary morning tea will be provided.
