LOOKING FOR GWEN GILLAM GARMENTS
In 2012 the Queensland Museum is planning a retrospective exhibition on Gwen Gillam one of Brisbanes leading fashion designers in the 1950s and 1960s.
Her flagship store was in the Brisbane Arcade along side stores in the Grand Central Arcade in Queen Street and the Metro in Albert Street.
The exhibition will not only focus on the garments she designed, but will also look at the social history of Brisbane during the 1960s.
The museum is seeking to make contact with Queensland women who still may have Gwen Gillam garments hidden away in their wardrobes.
If you have such a garment or know someone who may possess such a garment please do not hesitate to contact me either by email or by phone.
