4BC Family History 101
4BC has started a regular segment, Family History 101, in its Thursday evening program at 9:30pm. Queensland FHS Inc. Family History (Writing) Award 2011
The Society invites entries for this Award which will be presented to the person or persons producing the best history of a Queensland family, published in book form within the last five years. It must be the story of a family, not of an individual. The Award is open to the general public as well as to members of the Society.

Chinese family history
My family's history closely mirrors that of Marilynn Dooley - ancestor Ah Sam Foo, arrived Nth Qld 1874 to work Palmer Goldfields, then worked as shopkeeper/baker central Qld.

Australian Joint Copying Project presentation - 31.07.10, 9:00pm

The Genealogical Society of Queensland (GSQ) is holding an education session on the Australian Joint Copying Project (AJCP) on Saturday 31 July 2010.
Stephanie Ryan from the SLQ will make this presentation at the GSQ Resource Centre, 38 Fisher St, East Brisbane.
The AJCP is an underutilised by family historian. It comprises microfilms of many British records and these films are held in a range of Australian repositories.
The records include those of:
The Colonial Office; the Dominions Office; the Home Office, the Admiralty and others.
