Speakers from these major Queensland repositories will guide you through the resources and services available, how to access them, and will be available for questions and discussion.

The National Archives of Australia at Cannon Hill is holding an open day with a number of seminars and an opportunity to visit information stands from the State Library of Queensland, Queensland State Archives, Genealogical Society of Queensland, Queensland Family History Society in assocation with ancestry.com.au.

To be held on Friday 25th February, starting at 9.30am to 4pm.  The event is free, come for an hour or you can come for the whole day.

History & Genealogy Roadshow - 17.11.10, 8:30am

A unique opportunity for anyone to come and hear some of the best speakers from overseas and some of the local Unlock the Past presenters - including Elaine Collins (from Findmypast.com), Dan Lynch (author of Google Your Family Tree), Louise St Dennis (National Institute of Genealogical Studies, Toronto), our own Shauna Hicks.

This National Roadshow is being organised with the support of the leading societies in each state - the Queensland FHS and Genealogical Society of Queensland will both have trade tables.

Queensland Week seminar at Queensland State Archives

Date: Wednesday 2 June

Time:10am-11am

Location: Queensland State Archives Lecture Theatre 2

At this seminar, an archivist will explain the background and significance of records such as the Order in Council establishing the State of Queensland and the diaries of north Queensland explorer Christie Palmerston and some of the early convict records. Some of these original records will be on display at a seminar.

 Queensland State Archives will also launch three new indexes during Queensland Week - the Pre-Separation Guide (an index to early records dating before 1859), Lands Index and Toowoomba Prison Index - which will help researchers find records relating to individuals more quickly.  Entry is free.
