Commemoration of Pearl disaster 12 Feb 2012

The ferry s.s.Pearl capsized while crossing the Brisbane River February 1896. About 29 people died while about 60 were saved.

This commemoration will be held at the Queensland Maritime Museum (cnr of Stanley and Sidon Sts ) South Bank.

It will commence 3 pm Sunday 12 February overlooking the Brisbane River where the capsize occurred.

Descendants of those involved in the disaster are particularly invited to attend and share their stories.

There will be a collection for a memorial.
