Irish military archives to release records online
Ireland's Military Archives are currently digitising a number of key collections which should delight both genealogists and historians alike. These records will be available to search online through their website - http://militaryarchives.ie/
The Military Archives has already digitised hundreds of military maps, plans and drawings and in the next few months will launch the "Bureau of Military History witness statements (1913-1921)".
The Military Archives does not hold Irish service records for those who served in the two World Wars. These records are held with The National Archives in London.
For further information on this exciting project read the following Irish Times article - http://www.irishtimes.com/newspaper/ireland/2012/0103/1224309736108.html
