IGGS collects 120 stories for 120 years

Ipswich Girls' Grammar School is celebrating 120 years in 2012. To commemorate the event we are collecting 120 stories about the school from past and present students, teachers and parents - one for every year from 1892 to 2012.

For information on the project and how you can be involved, visit the IGGS website and look under community for 120 stories. The more varied the stories, the more interesting the final publication will be.

Picture Ipswich & More – Family History - Free Session

It’s the 150th anniversary of Ipswich being proclaimed a municipality. To help celebrate this milestone, a free information session – “Family History” will be held at the Barry Jones Auditorium, Ipswich Library on Tuesday 16 November from 10:00am to 11:30am. Do you have an ancestor who was a convict?  Find out how to search for convict ancestors using online resources, with help from guest speaker, Myles Sinnamon, from the State Library of Queensland. Or find out about some common pitfalls that you are likely to encounter when researching your family history from Catriona Robinson of Ipswich Genealogical Society.

Sessions are free, but advance booking is required as spaces are strictly limited.

To book your place, phone the library on 3810 6772.  For more information visit the library website at http://library.ipswich.qld.gov.au/training/pictureips.htm
