British Library signs deal with Google
Google teams up with the British Library
The British Library recently signed what it described as a 'strategic partnership' with Google. The deal will allow the search giant to digitise 250,000 out-of-copyright books from between 1700 and 1870 taken from the library's collections. Google will finance the digitisation of the books and deliver the content free through both Google Books and the British Library's website. The first works to be digitised will include feminist pamphlets on the subject of ill-fated French queen, Marie Antoinette, and plans for the invention of the first combustion engine-driven submarine.
