The Brisbane City Archive's “Historic Flood files” contain many interesting documents relating to floods in Brisbane, mainly collected by Councils’ Water Engineers. Annabel's presentation will involved sharing some of these documents with you in an illustrated presentation.

Annabel Lloyd is the City Archivist for Brisbane City Council and was responsible for the establishment of the City Archives in 1994.  From small beginnings in the back office of an old wool store building at Teneriffe the Archives is now housed in large premises in Moorooka affording the collection excellent preservation and visitors excellent research facilities. In addition to responsibility for the archives, Annabel has responsibility for the management of Council’s records appraisal operations. The City Archivist supports Council’s 32 Libraries in managing their local studies collections and relationships with local history groups and their collections and works in partnership with the Museum of Brisbane to enhance the accessibility and relevance of the history of Brisbane to the broader community.

 

Annabel holds a BA Hons and a Graduate Diploma in IM – Archives Administration.
