Dublin wills and marriage licences, 1800-1858 via NLA website
An slq researcher recently alerted us to the following handy resource accessible online through the National Library of Australia's website
Appendix to the thirtieth report of the Deputy Keeper of the Public Records and Keeper of the State Papers in Ireland. An index to the act or grant books and original wills of the diocese of Dublin from 1800 to 1858
In addition to wills and intestacies the indexes include marriage licences. Entries are arranged alphabetically by surname.
To access these documents go to the National Library of Australia website http://www.nla.gov.au/ and click on the link to eResources. If not already registered as a user you will need to register and login.
Then click on the links as follows:>Licensed resources>‘H’>House of Commons Parliamentary Papers>Accept (terms of the license agreement)>Visit site>Search
The quickest way to retrieve the appendix is to search by paper number. The paper number is Cd. 4
Once you have access to the full text document you can search its contents by using the search box at the bottom of the screen.

Genlias: Netherlands Civil Register
The civil registration of births, deaths and marriages commenced in 1811 in the Netherlands. Thanks to Genlias - a joint initiative of a number of public archives in the Netherlands and overseas - it is possible to search many of the records online in a free national database on the Genlias websitehttp://www.genlias.nl/en/page0.jsp
The database is still a work in progress but already contains an impressive 15 million of the civil registration records currently in the public domain (births to 1903; marriages to 1933; and deaths to 1953).
In some instances parish records predating 1811 and statements of succession have been included.
Other countries that had or still have a constitutional relationship with the Netherlands, such as Formosa, have been invited to contribute their records too.
The surname is the only required element in the search form and it can be combined with a variety of other elements such as given name, place, patronymic, period, etc. to provide fast efficient searching of the records.
The website includes a link to www.archiefnet.nl where contact details of provincial and municipal archives in the Netherlands can be found.

Bolles family

The Bolles family are well-known ship captains who brought migrants to Australia in the early days. Herbert Bolles' achievements have been published in 'We seemed to get there!' which was written by his grandson. The good news is that John Oxley Library holds a collection of the Bolles' family photographs, original letters written in 1855, genealogical tables, information on S.S. Ormiston, S.S. Dove, 'Wild Duck', 'Janet', 'Robert Towns', and reports on the massacre of Captain Thomas Craig. This collection can be accessed at the State Library of Queensland, Original Material collection.
