About Nnub
Nnub is a touch-enabled, networked, and digital noticeboard. Nnub is divided into localities or local groups of users and accessible through both a noticeboard interface (in a public space within the locality) and Web interface at www.nnub.net. Example contexts include a neighbourhood, library, and university campus.
Nnub aims to help build better, searchable, and indexable information for local communities. All Nnub content is generated by Nnub users and by aggregating content relevant to the locality from other sources. Our philosophy is that anyone can post.
The Australian Oxford Dictionary defines nub as a point or gist (of matter or story). The noticeboard is a locality nub where the point or gist of the locality is captured in text and images uploaded by the Nnub users. Nnub stands for Neighbourhood nub.
Nnub is a research project in supporting local community led by Professor Margot Brereton at the Queensland University of Technology.

The SLQ family history Nnub can be used to:
- keep up to date with what's happening in family history at libraries, archives and societies throughout Queensland
- promote family history events
- let people know about family/ class reunions, new books, or websites
- chat on the forum about favourite topics in family history research
- let friends, relatives and fellow researchers know about interesting notices by using the 'send to a friend' links on each notice
- subscribe to tags to keep up to date with your special topic of interest
- download the noticeboard software to create a Scribble or preview your latest posting as it will appear on the noticeboard
Anyone can post but the content of all notices must be related to family history.
