Nnub News
New 'Post Notice' form
The 'Post Notice' page has changed. Now there is only one page for posting a notice (rather than choosing from three templates for combinations of images, pdf and text). This page includes all of these options and you can add larger media files and a combination of any of the media you like.
All the media files are fully editable as well which improves the previous pages as some media files could not be changed.
There is also a new save option so that a post can be saved if you are called away to dry the dishes or feed the dog and all will not be lost.
New Categories
Categories have replaced Tags in the right hand navigation. We found that tags were a bit unruly in this space (with around 1000 on each Nnub) and most people only used the ones in view rather than scroll down through the long list.
Tags are still available, however are only shown within each notice. Tags are also optional to add when making a notice, however choosing a category is a mandatory field. This should improve the right hand navigation as a more concise reflection of the kinds of posts available on each Nnub.
You can subscribe to a category and an email update will be sent to let you know about new posts in that category. Please login to see this option.
You can also suggest a new category if you think there is something missing. Please login to see this option.
Facebook page
Nnub Moggill, Bellbowrie, and Surrounds now sends all notices to a Nnub Moggill, Bellbowrie, and Surrounds facebook page via RSS feeds.
This means people can see Nnub notices on facebook and link to Nnub from the facebook page. If they 'like' the facebook page, new posts to the facebook page (including new Nnub notices) will display in their newsfeed (while they are active visitors to the Nnub facebook page).
The page is indexed by Google (meaning Google searches will show content from the Nnub facebook page) and is visible without the need to login to facebook.
Anyone can post to the page.

Send an email to create a notice
You can now create notices by sending an email to Nnub.
The email address is dependent on the Nnub you would like the notice to be displayed on. For example the Moggill Nnub at http://moggill.nnub.net/ will have an email address of moggill@nnub.net and the State Library of Queensland Nnub at http://slq.nnub.net/ will have an email address of slq@nnub.net.
Please see creating and managing notices using email on the Help page for more information.
Follow Nnub on Twitter
Follow your Nnub locality on Twitter.
The Twitter name for each Nnub is dependent on the Nnub you would like to follow. For example the Moggill Nnub at http://moggill.nnub.net/ will have the Twitter name nnub_moggill and the State Library of Queensland Nnub at http://slq.nnub.net/ will have the Twitter name nnub_slq. Use the search function on Twitter to find the Nnub tweets.

Discuss on the Forum
A forum has been added so Nnub users can create threads for discussion.
With the goal of making Nnub as useful to the community as we can, topics that discuss Nnub design will be added. We welcome other Nnubies to add any suggestions about how Nnub might be enabled to better suit local communication needs.

People love images
We have looked at our logs and it turns out that people really like to look at images on the noticeboard. So if you are trying to grab attention on the noticeboard make sure you use an image.
Image notices (image with a title only) are by far the most popular type of notice to view on the public display. Of the total touches to view a notice at full size, viewing an image notice at full size accounts for 72%. Of the total touches including navigation, viewing an image notice at full size accounts for 44.9%. Notices with text and an image are the next most popular posting to view at full size. Of the total touches including navigation, viewing text and image notices at full size accounts for 7.9%.
Send a notice to a friend
Seen something on Nnub that you think one of your friends might be interested in?
You can send notices to friends via email by choosing the 'send to a friend' link at the bottom right hand side of each notice. You can add a personal message in the email if you like.
You don't have to logged in to send a notice to a friend.
Flyer ready to go?
Have you got a flyer already made and don't want to re-enter all the content back into Nnub to make a notice.
You don't have to. Just choose 'Create New Notice' and choose the pdf format. Note: your notice must be saved as a pdf file for this to load correctly. This way you can put up a notice that looks unique, grabs attention, and takes only a couple of clicks to upload.
Flickr feeds
You may have seen some really lovely photos posted to the noticeboard. A lot of these are thanks to feeds that we have set up from Flickr. Flickr is a photo sharing site and has a fantastic collection of photos on just about anything you can think of. You can find out more about Flickr on their website at http://www.flickr.com
If you are Flickr member (or would like to become one) and have photos that you would like to feed to the noticeboard you can either tag your photo as 'Moggill' or you can add it to the Moggill Flickr group at http://www.flickr.com/groups/moggill/
Not a Flickr user? You can upload photos too. Choose 'Create New Notice' and choose the image only template.
Have fun.Scribbles
Want to make a quick notice?
You can post to the noticeboard at the shop by creating a Scribble. Scribbles allow you to make a notice by drawing or writing on the noticeboard using your finger.
Scribbles are saved to the noticeboard and to the website. On the website you can see all the latest Scribbles listed on the home page.
We have had some great Scribbles to date. Thanks.
